Recomp of the Xbox 360 version of Open Season (WIP/Experimental)
Disclaimer that this requires Rexglue if you want to codegen and compile, there is a release available. But as is the case for any recomp, you do need a legally obtained copy of the game. And in this case, the NTSC version.
Game assets go in the "openseason" folder.
Also worth nothing this is currently only for Windows, I don't have a mac or linux setup to support those (if I had any linux devices I would've had a Steam Deck or Steam Machine).
Why did I do a recomp for the game when an official PC version exists?
Mainly because that version is more based on the sixth gen version with it being on par with the Original Xbox version.
As such the game on PC never got the enhancements of the Xbox 360 version including widescreen support.
Also important to note this as WIP/Experimental, as such it doesn't include any patches or enhancements, stuff like those can be made using the ingame settings of Rexglue.
do know that because of issues with Rexglue and its GPU plugin (which is based off Xenia, and a somewhat older version of it), it seems to have a few visual issues compared to the original game and playing on Xenia. Please be aware of this issue, right now there's no native renderer or anything else like that. Which reminds me, this recomp was human made, no AI used during the whole process of making the recomp from start to finish, any pull requests clearly made with AI and especially entirely by AI won't be allowed. I don't have a particular issue with AI usage, although plenty of people from what I've seen have a problem with it. So if you can, please submit pull requests that are human written, I don't want this recomp to be looked down upon like other recomps that got backlash for even having any usage of AI vibecoding. (Plus there are pretty good recomps that don't have AI usage, one example that comes to my mind to Trouble In Paradise by SolarCookies which is really good). Again, nothing against those who do resort to that for aspects of a recomp, but most people on the internet have a problem with it.
Please do let me know if there are issues with compiling a build of your own.
